Three facts that could transform your life.

There is the innate desire within all of us to want something more, something better. This is because we all recognize that things are not as good as they could or should be in our lives and world today. The three facts that are following are simple yet profound, so I invite you to carefully consider them.

1. Everyone is a sinner before God.

Because of our sin, we have turned what God created to be good into evil by disobeying His good loving commands. No matter how much good we try to do, we cannot erase the wrong things that we have done. We have all broken God’s law. We have all lied. We have all thought sinful things. We have all failed to live up to the standard of right that the God who made us justly set.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

1John 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

All we have to do is look around us at the world, and at our own lives, and we can clearly see that things are not perfect. From wars, to harsh words, from broken treaties, to failed promises we have sinned and messed things up.

2. We deserve the just punishment for our sin.

Because we have all sinned, we have all earned and deserve the just punishment of that sin. The penalty for rebelling against Almighty God is death; eternal separation and punishment from Him.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death,

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned–

All we have to do is look around us at the world, and at our own lives, and we can clearly see that things are dying, and decaying. From the world, to our relatives, from animals, to plants, the consequences of our sin are everywhere.

3. God decided to show His love and mercy to us.

Because we cannot earn our way back to God and take care of our sin problem, God decided to intervene and show us His mercy and love. He came down and became man to pay the penalty Himself in order to satisfy His justice. Thus the punishment can be taken and paid by another, our relationship to Him can be restored, and we can begin living a new, transformed life.

Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

2Corinthians 5:21 For our sake he made him (Jesus) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

All we have to do is look around us at the world, and at our own lives, and we can can clearly see that we all want to hope for something better, because things are not the way that they are supposed to be. Yet throughout the centuries we have been powerless to fix it. We need help. Only God coming down and taking our problem on Himself can change our lives back to the way that He originally intended.

So how can these three facts transform your life?

Entrust yourself personally to God through what Jesus did on your behalf. We cannot earn it. We do not deserve it. God gives it. It is not about using specific words in a prayer that is just one way of expressing to God what is really going on: trusting in Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins by what He did in taking our sins and punishment upon Himself when He died on the cross and rose again from the dead. He conquered sin by rising again and proving He could truly give us new life and reconcile us to God the Father.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

1Corinthians 15:3-4 Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,

All who believe in Him shall have eternal life. Will you believe in Him? Entrust yourself to Him for forgiveness? If you truly do, your life will be transformed. Our souls are immediately transformed, and when we go to heaven we will receive new eternal bodies that will never die.

2Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 1:13-14 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
